I Hate Yard Work

So why is this my backyard. It takes almost 2 hours just to mow it and it's why I didn't get much sewing done, and what I did do I'm almost ashamed to show you.

Gwen came over and forced me to clean out the weeds and the landscaping, we worked from Thursday and finally finished up on Sunday. I can't believe we did what we did, I should have taken before pictures but it was a mess. I've promised myself that I won't let it get like that again.

I finished the jacket and needed a white tank top to wear under it, this is where my chop shop sewing came in, I'm so ashamed.

I used the white stretch knit I got in Texas, I didn't have much left after using it to line the zebra print maxi so I hacked this together. I added the ric-rac around the neckline because it looked to much like a wife beater lol. If you look closely you can see the darts don't match and instead of hand sewing I just machine stitched the opening after turning it to the right side. I really didn't care because I only plan to wear it under the Ms. Peggy jacket but there's really no excuse for sloppy sewing.

I hope you forgive me and if you're so inclined please share some of your dirty little sewing secrets, it will make me feel better about myself lol.

The jacket looks fantastic! I love it. I think you'll get a lot of wear out of it, it can be dressed up or down. You've really done a great job in matching the plaid, too. As for yard work, get someone in to mow for you. They have bigger mowers, they take less time and they really aren't that expensive (at least they aren't here in Australia). Next time you feel bad about your mowing, think of me - I have 23 acres to mow!

You did a fabulous job on that yard and that jacket is beautiful. You did an awesome job. I like the tank too.

I love that jacket. As far as yard work, I haven't mowed since I met Calvin in 2006 and hope I never have to!

Cute jacket!! We all have mishaps in sewing.
As far as yard work I have 3 boys so I shouldn't have to yard work until I retire! LOL!

Is it frightening to say I have never used a lawn mower before, although I've purchased 3 of them over several years. They are gifts to DH...lol

The jacket looks great and I am sure I have made several mishaps, but we learn from them.

Your jacket is beautiful! And as for the sewing mishaps; several months ago I attempted some plaid pants that had to be trashed! Made me question my sewing ability and sent me into a downward sewing spiral! Thank God I pulled out of it.

I'm swooning over that yard! So much space!

And now for the jacket -- it's so cute! I love it. And great work on the matching. I'm terrible at lining up patterns of any kind, and admire the ability in those that can.
