The Good and The Bad

Lets start with the good, McCalls 5977, it's view D without the sleeves. I didn't have enough fabric for the full width of the ruffle but I still like it.

I'm trying to sew from my stash, I can't remember when/where or what type of fabric this is but this is a great summer top. I didn't have enough fabric for the sleeves, I'm sure with the weather we've been having I won't miss them.

Now for the bad, McCalls 5391, I was very happy with the plaid matching on these shorts, I even cheated to get the side front to line up.

Then I tried them on, to quote Sheila, "if it doesn't fit you must acquit". The fit was atrocious and I didn't have anymore fabric to come up with a creative save so these are wadders. I have now altered the pattern with a full seat adjustment, my first. I have some more fabric picked out and will give this pattern another try.

I hope to get a lot of sewing done this weekend but I also need to strip some wallpaper, we'll see how that goes.

I'm sorry about your shorts too, but you still have a great track record of successes. I really like your ruffled top too.

Your top is terribly cute. Very stylish. As for the shorts, pants are the most difficult garment to fit. I suggest Palmer/Pletsch's book "Pants for Every Body". Their method for pant fitting is great.
