Blessed

This is how I feel. The last couple of weeks have been harrowing. My daughter had to have a 25 cm cyst (that's almost 10 inches) removed. She didn't tell me she was pregnant until we got to the hospital for the surgery. Talk about a tense 2 hours. I wanted to run up and down the hospital hallways shouting hallelujah when the doctor finally came out and told me that my daughter and the baby were fine.

So of course since then I've had baby on the mind. I started the hat right after the doctor gave me the good news. I just started the bootie or I should say sock because I cannot for the life of me follow a bootie pattern. We won't know for another week whether it's a boy or girl but as you can see I'm obviously hoping and praying for a girl. Honestly after what we've been through I'm just very grateful that they're both ok. She's due in January.

Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him. (Psalms 127:3)

I'm sure girls are too.

Chrismas in August

My co-worker is always telling me to get started early on my Christmas gifts since she knows I make most of them. This year I'm listening, my go to gift this year will be the casserole carrier.

This was my test run, this is gifted fabric, I'm pretty sure it's as old as I am. I will probably keep this one for myself because I don't have the heart to give this to anybody.

The pattern doesn't call for the binding but I thought it needed it. I also added a piece of elastic to hold a spoon.
I will give this one away, for this one I purchased coordinating quilting fabric.

I had the quilted fabric I used for the lining. I did find the teflon fabric but I would have to line it with batting and quilt it myself. Not feeling that at all.

Only 9 more to go. I'm going to try and do at least two a week but I'm sure I will get bored with them and sneak in some sewing for myself.

I hope everyone had a great weekend.
